PEPUS has succeeded in mobilizing the tribal women to form 50 SHGs in 20 villages of Naugarh Block and promoting them to involve in various income generation activities through bank linkage. Total members of 50 SHGs are 646 and total group fund of 50 SHGs is Rs. 878655/- (including their savings and sanctioned loan). Bank has provided loan to SHGs of Rs. 448400.00. By combining these 50 SHGs a block level women confederation has been formed which is named as “Dalit Mahila Shakti Kendra” and it has now been registered under SRA 1860. The major achievements of forming SHGs in the area are that all 650 women members have become free from the trap of loan on higher interest from money lenders.

To promote child education in the remote area of Naugarh Block Pepus initiated running non formal education centre for providing primary education to the children (especially to girl child). This process started since 1994. Gradually after inception of primary schools in these villages the students of non formal education centre have been linked with these schools. Today it is found out through survey that about 88% of boys and 82% of girls are enrolled in primary schools.

To promote safe deliveries in the project area of Naugarh Block Pepus did effort to enhance capacity of local traditional dais because no any health facility related with delivery cases is available in this area. The result of the effort of Pepus is that at present about 99 percent of total delivery cases handled by these trained dais is being found successful.

In the process of converting brick workers to brick owners PEPUS has successfully mobilized one firemen family to establish eco-friendly brick kiln of new technology called as Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln (VSBK). One remarkable achievement also is that a woman has emerged as a brick kiln owner. She was involved in each activity right from the construction to management which has boosted her confidence.

Pepus also succeeded in mobilizing the women of 30 villages of Kaurihar Block of Allahabad District in forming 36 Self Help Groups. The total no. of members in these SHGs is 476. Total group fund of these SHGs is 878655.00 at this time in which total savings of 36 groups is Rs. 358976.00. The rest fund is provided to groups as revolving fund from the organization. The major achievements of forming these groups is that all the members has got rid of the mortgage on higher interest from the money lenders and most of the members are involved in various income generation activities like purchasing livestocks, in agriculture, keeping shops etc.

PEPUS initiated Techno Social Integration (TSI) approach for making the firemen community empowered by organizing them into one unit. Village level organizations called Bhattaha Parivar Vikas Samitis were formed in 40 villages of Kaurihar and Bihar blocks which were further consolidated as a Regional Sangathan called Bhattaha Parivar Vikas Sewa Sangathan.This Sangathan has now been developed as communication channel and service provider for artisan families.
